Working at the intersection of sculpture and painting, Antti Oikarinen (b. 1974) has been working on questions related to representation since 2010. In his oeuvre, he has particularly pondered on how his works could represent other imaginary or possible works or artistic deeds. Oikarinen's artistic practice is simultaneously conceptual and material. The most essential conceptual level is related to considering the basic questions of art and representation; the material level is related to crafting by hand and thus challenging himself and the viewer. Oikarinen graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts with a Master of Fine Arts degree in 2006 and before that, a Master of Philosophy degree in mathematics. His latest solo exhibition, Introspective, was on display at Kunsthalle Helsinki in early 2026. Oikarinen's works are included in several significant public collections, such as the Gösta Serlachius Art Foundation, the Helsinki Art Museum, the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Fund, the Saastamoinen Foundation and the Sara Hildén Art Museum, as well as in several private collections.
