Martti Jämsä (b.1959) is a photographer based in Helsinki, known especially for his work focusing on analogue black and white photography. Jämsä has held numerous solo exhibitions all over Finland since 1982, most recently with his series ” Helsinki that you perhaps have not seen” at The Museum of Technology, Helsinki, Finland (2022) and with ”Liquid Density Landscapes” at The Ostrobothnian Photography Centre (2022). Martti Jämsä has published 20 photo books, which, including portfolios and artist books, have been an essential part of his practice for decades. His work is included, among others, in the collections of Amos Rex Art Museum (Helsinki), Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art (Helsinki), The Finnish Museum of Photography (Helsinki), Helsinki Art Museum, Wihuri Foundation (Rovaniemi) and Saastamoinen Foundation (Espoo).
