PEKKA SASSI
Based on my own experiences, I thought for a long time that people don’t
dream in colour. I later learned that this is not the case.
I wanted to create a colourful dream of my own in my video work Everything Is Light (2025), while also creating a piece that all viewers could understand.
The images in the work form landscapes and figures that move and breathe as though they were projections. When a world made of sound and an image merge, the elements come to life and a creature is created.
Sometimes the creature seems active and appears to be trying to make contact with the viewer; at other times it turns its gaze inwards and appears just to be waiting for something.
The tracks in my video work are based on improvisations performed either on an electric guitar with effects or with synthesisers.
Looking at the universe from the perspective of human beings and all things animate, we can say that everything we perceive – with any of our senses – was at some point made of light.
