SUSANNA MAJURII'm waiting for you 14.9.2019 – 13.10.2019
I wait for you
in the water
roll silvery stones between
blue fingers
watch my face defy time in
the wave
come and lie beside me
stroke my body like in old times
I am the white lily and the rose
I wait for you
in the water
Vigdís Grimsdóttir, translation to english by Kári Tulinius
The exhibition’s works feature a figure floating on the water, blending it in with its surroundings. A photo captures the movement of the water. Time is placed in safekeeping. Memories kept in a safe place.
Paused moments are given an emotional voice. As you watch, you can leave your weight in the water, you are being supported, embraced. Water moves you; water changes you. The touch of the water on your skin is safe – sexual, even.
I'm waiting for you is about love. What it feels like to be a mother, father, son, sister, friend. It is about wanting to be loved. How it feels to be part of a family.
An ancient beach, a river valley, waterfalls, springs. Water erupting from the earth. Nature is special. The landscape has a strong nostalgic attraction. I'm still looking for my origins. I follow the water. Sometimes it only shows a hint of itself. Water is the route, feeling at home, the place where we came from. Water and time have made the landscape unique. It makes you wonder what was before us and what will be after us. The landscape may change, but the stories will be repeated over the course of time.
