In my art I examine structures through which
individuals connect with a community. The modern age emphasizes individuality
and freedom, but we still need strong communal experiences and seek group
acceptance.
The works Justin and Assembly and the series Unity depict the growing up of teenagers through the popular culture characters they identify with. Nothing Unnecessary approaches the dreams connected with the modern Finnish home from the point of view of home and decorating magazines. The dream home is white, spacious and soothing. Everything there has a purpose. The Events series examines the illusion of tridimensionality in the spirit of abstract painting.
We are ping, they are pong - spatially modified version of the old Ping Pong TV game exposes a surprising dark zone which engulfs those thrown off the playing field.
