Drawing on paper for me is just a zone where I am for a while and then move on. In making this series of drawings there is no apparent beginning or end, they exist as evidence of a moment between past and present.

They were envisaged to be fields of activity where I retrace and feel the effects of things seen, touched and remembered. Particularly the drawings are responses to the continuum of observing; found toys, wallpaper and the marks and layers left on walls.

Oliver Whitehead

Oliver Whitehead (b.1947) was born in England and began his art studies there. He is a versatile artist, who has lived in Finland since 1974. The output of his long career consists of drawings, paintings, graphics and photography as well as video and sound works and installations. The works presented now is a series of drawings produced with a variety of techniques. Whitehead is also known for his short films. He has been awarded with an international art film prize in 2000 in Germany. In addition to a significant amount of national and international group exhibitions, he has mounted several solo exhibitions since 1971.
