A House on a Hill / garage opera

A House on a Hill is a garage opera / sung radio play / pop music. The work consists of 14 pieces. A man lives alone, working on a secret experiment in his basement.

Vocals, guitars, bass, banjo, harmonica, glockenspiel, recorder, percussion, drums, recording, mixing and mastering: Pekka Sassi

I originally wrote A House on a Hill as a radio play. The first version was a text read over a musical background. When I listened to the playback, I understood that the text should be sung, and I began to work on a second version. I was amazed how naturally the text, originally written as speech, became a song. There was something that was explicitly honest and existent in the singing; the text became musical compositions and the entire radio play became a pop record.

The snow melts when she laughs.
I laugh too.
Then we descend again.
That she has learned from me,
To set her hat with the edge of her mitten.
A lambskin on the sled bottom.
The snow is grainy crushed ice.

- It is here again
- Standing at the edge of the woods, staring this way

A bottomless terror numbed me yesterday.
Only barely was I able to do a day’s work.
It still haunts me, but I know,
Only forward must I go.
Luckily I have a plan. If I can only
Follow it, success will be mine.
