Time Without Duration

One of the most famous Finnish contemporary painter's Kristiina Uusitalo's paintings   depict the Finnish landscape and nature. According to the artist, many of her works are "illustrations of an epiphany-type moment of awareness. They are more like portrait of an experience than of a place, like stages that enable me to tell what I have experienced, discovered, anticipated. They witness the radiating intensity of a moment experienced and are simultaneously quiet and expressive."

The names of the works presented "Time without duration," "Perspective in reverse", "The cloud of unknowing", "Rose garden" and "Hidden in bareness" all are mentally connected to concepts of spiritual life. The name of the exhibition, "Time without duration", also refers to the previously mentioned "strong experiences that make time almost disappear".

The exhibition will also feature works from "The book of our land" collection where Kristiina Uusitalo refers to depicting the most canonised, the so-called Finnish national landscape portrayed from atop a high hill. Uusitalo examines this representation of private and common experience and re-illustrates it through the eyes of a contemporary person.
